5 STEPS DIY: Shredded Sweater + Seasonal Styling Ideas

Hey guys, welcome back! Today I have for you a DIY so simple it's 5 steps and takes the maximum 15 minutes. You can do this while watch Law & Order SVU Episodes from 1999 on your laptop and eat Gary Poppins Caramel Popcorn while your doing this it's that easy. (cause for sure thats what i was doing.)

I've laid it out step by step below & the last "step" i sneaked in there. It's basically just outfit ideas; ideas, not rules therefore they can be bent. If you feel like styling it different feel free, my opinion is just there for perspective and possibly some guidance.

Enjoy (:

Step 1: Lay out your knit sweater on a flat surface & grab your scissors. Those are all the materials you will need for this DIY.

Step 2: Using your scissors; cut a piece of yarn going vertically (upwards). Wherever you choose to start your shredding process is up to you, for me I started at the very bottom. Then your going to gently stretch the whole you've made as much as it will let you. Start pulling the horizontal yarn from above towards you with your thumb and index finger.

Step 3: When you start getting a rhythm; you can just use your index and middle finger to do something I like to call the "climbing technique". All you have to do is keep pulling towards you but with fingers that make the process faster and more fluent.

Pardon the lady gaga song in the background of this video, I had my headphones but i guess there not noise proof haha.

Step 4: When your finished tie the to pieces of yarn that you cut; into a double knot.

Step 5: Check to see if it is how you want it to be. If it isn't wide enough just keep cutting vertically on either the left or right side & if it's not long enough just keep pulling the yarn until you reach your desired length.

Step 6: Styling your new grungy sweater!

This piece specifically is cropped so it's styled with it's fraternal twin; the Distressed Vintage Plaid Maxi Skirt (Part of my Upcoming Collection). It has delicate buttons going along the front with an imperial carving detail for that feminine touch.

FALL / WINTER

To compete this look in the colder climate these oxblood flatform boots would add a "new age grunge" feel to the whole outfit while adding some elevation.

For a hair accessory the velvet twist in burgundy would be really nice for a texture and colour contrast.

SPRING / SUMMER

For the warmer temperatures sandals are always the way to go. These chrome finished babes are by one of my favourite brands; Dr. Martens. These are a huge throwback to the 90's. There also a great statement and staple piece for spring/summer. Besides it's looks, being a longtime docs wearer I could say that these shoes are probably perfect comfort wise.

If you love the urban gypsy look as much as I do you'll adore this head chain. A nice gold or rose gold would bring out the beige/creams in the sweater and skirt.
